Lurcio is a slave in Roman times to his bumbling, womanising master Ludicrus Sextus. During a chance encounter with the Roman army in the marketplace, he inadvertently becomes the owner of a scroll which details a plot to assassinate the Emperor Nero. Cue a series of farcical and crazy attempts to recover the scroll by the conspirators, and a whole host of chance encounters which involve a chase through an old fashioned Roman orgy, a bizarre encounter in the steam room, and Lurcio taking on another old carry on favourite in a Greco-Roman wrestling match. The conspirators efforts become more and more desperate and amusing, and the questions are, can they find the scroll before they are discovered? Can Lurcio stay alive with everyone after his gizzards? And finally has anyone mentioned the volcano yet?
