Jeanne is waiting for her boyfriend Jean in a pretty little café in Paris named 'Au pan coupé'. Jean suddenly turns up in a state of excitement for what will be their last meeting together. Unsure of his emotions, Jean decides to go away to work on a youth camp. Several weeks later, his dead body is found in the suburbs of Lyon. His friend Pierre and his father begin their own discrete investigation in an attempt to uncover the reasons for the young man's death...
